Key observations:

Compliant with 4.24 of the International <IR> Framework, the ‘risk management and principal risks’ section of Diageo’s 2016 Integrated Report identifies the organization’s key risks and includes information on how these may impact the availability of capital. ‘How we mitigate’ bullet-point discussions outline how Diageo is dealing with each risk (4.23 of the International <IR> Framework) and ‘developments in 2016’ discussions provide evidence for the organization’s actions. Prior to this, an ‘our approach’ discussion on page 19 reviews Diageo’s overarching risk management ethos and who in the organization is accountable for risk.

 

This section also shows connectivity as each principal risk is linked to elements of the strategy through the use of icons, thereby demonstrating the interrelatedness of elements that influence value creation (3.6 of the International <IR> Framework) and, in turn, integrated thinking.
